Folders

Definition

A folder is an SAP KW container in which info objects (structures and content objects) are stored. Each folder is assigned to a certain area in SAP KW, for example, Training, Documentation, XML-Training, HTML-Based Documents, or Management. Each info object is assigned to exactly one folder.

Note

A folder contains all versions of an info object (release versions, language versions, and so on). Only the versions for the current context can be viewed and changed in SAP KW.

Folders have the attributes:

Title (short description of the folder of up to 50 characters)
Technical name (language-independent folder name)
Owner
Folder group
Translation memory

Note

Unlike info objects, folders have no versions: Folders are release-independent, language-independent, and so on.

Use

Folders are used to structure info object storage according to contents and organization.

Folders are assigned to folder groups according to their folder-specific user authorizations.

Only empty folders can be deleted.

The assignment of content objects and structures to a folder does not prevent them being used in other folders: they can be used in any number of structures in other folders.
