Budget Profile
Before you can carry out budgeting in an FM area, you must create at least one budget profile and assign it to the FM area. You make these settings in the budget profile step of the Funds Management IMG. You must define the following control parameters in the budget profile:
If you do not make an entry here, the system takes the current fiscal year as the start year.
You can only budget overall values if you are using a fund.
Use the View parameter to determine which values are displayed, in addition to the budget, when you enter budgeting (such as the distributed value or the accumulated value). You also define the scaling and number of decimal places for your budget value display.

The standard system contains budget profile 000001 (general budget/plan profile). You can use this, changing the detail settings to meet your requirements if you wish. This budget profile is assigned to FM area 0001, delivered as standard.
Assigning Budget Profiles
You can assign a budget profile to the individual funds master records. This enables you to control budgeting and availability control in a number of different ways. This assignment then applies in budgeting and tolerance limit verification.
Where can budget profiles be assigned?
Which budget profile is in effect depends on whether you are working with or without funds and on the assignments you have entered.

If you want to define individual tolerance limits for individual budget structure elements in an FM area, you have the option of overriding the tolerance limits for the budget profile which applies to the assignments you have made. For more information on this, refer to the documentation for Define specific tolerances for availability control in the Implementation Guide (IMG).
