Two types of problem can occur:

You will probably be informed of the problem via the CCMS Alert Monitor, or by the users impacted.

In this case, there is no real cause for concern, unless the cancelation occurs in a transaction that is critical to your enterprise.

Analyze the error using Update Management and the system log (See Analyzing and Correcting Update Errors).

In such cases, the update problem is merely a symptom of a much more serious problem, and the update errors are a side effect of the main problem. After eliminating a systemwide problem, it is essential to use Update Management to check for canceled updates in your system.

When serious problems occur in the database, the Update System deactivates itself. If needs be, you can deactivate the Update System to prevent a build-up of canceled updates. This also facilitates the subsequent elimination of the problem.

If you encounter a local update problem, or if you are not aware of the cause of your update problem, it is advisable to first determine the update error using Update Management. This information can then contribute towards the analysis of the problem in the SAP System.
