Creating Equipment in Deliveries
Materials for which you carry out plant maintenance require equipment master records so that maintenance can be administered.
Settings in Customizing
Depending on the settings in the corresponding serial number profile, it may be necessary to create equipment master records in the delivery. You have the following setting options at your disposal in Customizing:
Equipment is Mandatory
If you specify in a serial number profile that equipment is mandatory, the system, during delivery processing, automatically sets the equipment indicator in the serial number dialog box. When you save the delivery, the system automatically creates corresponding equipment master records for each object where equipment is indicated as mandatory.
Equipment not Mandatory
If equipment is not mandatory for a particular material, the system does not automatically create equipment master records.
It is still possible, however, to set the equipment indicator in the serial number dialog box during delivery processing. To do this, mark the corresponding serial numbers and press Create equipment. The system sets the indicator for the serial numbers you selected. When you save the delivery, the system automatically creates equipment master records for the selected serial numbers.
If you set the equipment indicator manually, you can also delete the indicator. To do this, mark the corresponding serial numbers and select Delete equipment. If the indicator was set because equipment is mandatory, it cannot be deleted.
