Batches are parts of a material that are separated from other parts of the same material and put in stock. The different parts are subject to variation (such as with paint or medicine).
You can specify a batch in the sales order item detail screen for a material requiring batch management (the indicator can be found in the material master record in the Storage and Purchasing screens.) When a delivery for a sales order is created, the batch is copied to the delivery. If no batch was entered in the sales order, you can enter it in the Picking Overview screen in the delivery.
