Processing a Work Item for an iPPE Object

Use

On the object-specific page of an iPPE object, when you navigate within a structure, you can see the work items for this object.

Recommendation

Since you are usually dealing with large volumes of data, which can seriously impede system performance, we recommend that you use the implementation of BAdI PLM_PDN_WUI (Product Designer Web UI) to restrict the amount of data that is processed. In this situation, the implementation acts as a filter.

Procedure

Display the object-specific page of an iPPE object.

On the object-specific page of an iPPE objects, check the Workflow (n) view.

The attribute (n) specifies the number of work items for the iPPE object.

Choose the link for the Workflow (n) view.

You see a list of the work items that reference the selected iPPE object. The following information is displayed, so that you can quickly get an overview of the work items:

Short text of work item
The short text of the work item is shown as a link.

Processor
You can process open work items where you have been determined as the processor. You can display all other work items, provided that you have the authorization to do so.
Status of work item

Execute the link of the work item that you want to display or process.

If you have not been determined as the processor of a work item, you will not have the authorization to execute the work item.

The detail data of the work item is displayed, such as the task description.
The definition of the workflow task determines the contents and how to proceed.

If you process a work item that does not support data input (import parameters), you can still complete the work item.

Note

If the definition contains a dialog step, processing continues in the Business Workplace. This link is active if the ITS is installed, and XXXX is entered in the table.

You can process definitions with object type Decision directly, by choosing an active button (such as Confirm, or Display iPPE Object). This button is active if an object that is relevant to the Web user interface of the product designer is assigned to the work item.

If the work item has to be processed in the Business Workplace, you see this information below the task description. In this case, you choose the link Business Workplace. A separate editing screen is opened for processing in the Business Workplace.

Note

If the system is set up to copy the logon data from R/3 for logging on to the ITS for service BWSP, you go straight to the detail data of the work item. Otherwise, you must enter the logon data first.

Your system administrator may set up Single Sign-On (SSO) for logon.

The detail data is displayed in the Business Workplace. Process this data.

Depending on the status of the work item and the properties of the task behind it, you can execute functions by choosing pushbuttons. For example, you can send the document to another user, or save it to a folder.

Once you have finished processing, finish your work in the ITS processing window.

Continue processing the work item in the workflow inbox of the product designer.

Depending on the current status of the work item and the properties of the task behind it, you can execute further functions by choosing pushbuttons, such as Complete.
