Definition

A distinguishing feature that enables you to specify different paydays for different employee groups for which Payroll runs with the same periodicity.

Example

Payroll runs on a monthly basis at your enterprise. The payday is 15th of the month for industrial employees, and 25th of the month for salaried employees. Payroll periodicity (monthly) is the same for both employee groups, so the system requires two date modifiers as distinguishing features in order to determine different paydays.

Use

If you require date modifiers, specify them in Customizing for Payroll by choosing Basic Settings ® Payroll Organization ® Define Date Modifiers.

You assign a date modifier to every payroll area in your system by accessing Customizing for Payroll and choosing Basic Settings ® Payroll Organization ® Check Payroll Area.

You must run report RPUCTP00 (Generation of Payroll Periods) in your system to generate payroll periods separately for each combination of period parameter and date modifier that you assign to a payroll area. You generate by accessing Customizing for Payroll and choosing Basic Settings ® Payroll Organization ® Generate Payroll Periods.

When you start Payroll and the payroll driver selection screen is displayed, enter the payroll area for which Payroll must run. Using the date modifier that you assigned to this payroll area, the system determines whether different date specifications exist for this payroll area.

Integration

A date modifier always refers to a period parameter.
