Determining Fonts

You use the [FONTS] section in the WWI.INI file to determine the font for EH&S reports.

In this section, fonts are assigned to the Microsoft code pages for different character sets. Fonts in the same font family must appear at the same position in the list.

In the standard system, the section includes the following entries:

Example

You want to generate a label in Arial with Greek texts on a German PC. Reformatting is required for the Greek text: The Windows Wordprocessor Integration (WWI) program determines the second position from the [FONTS] section for the font Arial and uses the font that is specified at the second position for the code page 1704, in other words Arial Greek. This section should be regarded as a table. In the table, the columns determine how a particular font must be replaced, depending on the code page. If a row in a code page contains fewer fonts than the starting row that corresponds to the code page for the report template, the last font in the row replaces all remaining fonts in the starting row. In the example shipped with the system, the fonts Arial, Times New Roman, and Courier New for the report template are replaced on a Japanese report by MS Gothic.

If you want to use other fonts, you must adjust the [FONTS] section in the WWI.INI file accordingly.

Note

The font is switched over, regardless of whether you are using EH&S Native Language Support (EH&S NLS). To display the fonts correctly in the reports, the fonts and the corresponding locales must be installed on the relevant PC. If you use Microsoft Word 2000 or Microsoft Word XP, we recommend you install the relevant Multi Language Packs, particularly for Asian languages. These ensure that lines breaks are handled correctly in accordance with the rules defined for a particular language.

If you are using EH&S NLS, data is converted before output from the format of the SAP(ISO) code pages used in the SAP System to Microsoft code page format.

You must also define the determination of fonts if you are using a Unicode SAP System. In this case, the data in Unicode format is converted before output to the format of the Microsoft ASCII code pages.

Caution

If you are not using EH&S NLS, the data is not converted. So that data on EH&S reports can be interpreted, the data in the SAP System must be entered in Microsoft code page format and it must have been stored on the SAP database in this format without having been converted. The data stored in this manner can be used only by the EH&S component and not by other SAP components. SAP no longer supports this scenario.
