Use

For an absence to be covered by FMLA, you must assign it to an FMLA request.

Note

Some absences can be assigned automatically to a request by the system. In this case, you only need to check whether the assignment is correct.

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Access the FMLA Workbench.
  2. Select the relevant employee.
  3. Select the required FMLA request.
  4. Choose Assign Absences.
  5. The Assign Absences screen appears. The Absences tab page lists all absences that overlap the validity period of the FMLA request and that could potentially be covered by FMLA.

  6. Compare the validity period of the FMLA request and the From and To dates of the absence.

If the period of the absence is not entirely within the validity period of the FMLA request, you cannot assign the absence. Instead you have to do one of the following:

  1. Activate the FMLA checkbox for the required absence and choose ENTER.
  2. The system checks whether the employee has sufficient remaining entitlement to take this absence. If the remaining entitlement is not sufficient, you have to inform the employee and, if necessary, shorten the period of absence.

  3. Save your entries.
