Contents that are maintained in enhancement contents are called enhancement contents. Enhancement contents can refer to a functional enhancement of the R/3 System, such as an R/3 Add-On, or to an application developed by the customer, but this need not be the case. Enhancement documentation created by the customer can document the standard system, emphasizing the customer-specific processes more than the SAP documentation and training can do. Enhancement contents can also have no reference to SAP applications.

Examples of enhancements:

• Contents of an Intranet, created by the customer in the Intranet Management area
• Customer-specific online help for R/3 applications, created by the customer in the Training area using SAP contents in the Documentation and Training areas
• Online help for a customer application, created by the customer in the Documentation area
• Customer-specific training courses created by the customer in the Training area using SAP contents in the Training area
• SAP online help for an industry solution created by SAP and partners using SAP contents in the Documentation area

Customers maintain all enhancement context contents in the customer namespace. They can use the general Knowledge Warehouse customer namespace /kwcust/ or another customer namespace.

If a new enhancement context is created when Customizing the Knowledge Warehouse, a SAP standard release must always be specified as base release for this context. If existing info objects of the SAP standard release are used when creating contents in an enhancement context, these must be info object versions of the relevant base release.

The contents standardly displayed in the SAP online help can be overwritten with enhancement contents from the Documentation and Training areas. SAP and partners overwrite standard documentation with enhancements to document industry solutions.

To display enhancements in the online help in an R/3 System, the information must be available, and the relevant enhancement context must be set up in a customizing activity in the R/3 System (see IMG activity Knowledge Management ® Settings in the application system ® Sequence of enhancements). The R/3 System help processor displays the appropriate info object versions for the existing configuration of enhancement contexts when the online help is called. This applies to both the display of info objects in the Application help and the display of the SAP Library.
