Goods Movements
Use
For all other goods movements that refer to a handling unit (HU)-managed storage location, posting in inventory management does not occur immediately; a delivery is created instead. The system uses the movement type and the plants and storage locations involved to decide which type of delivery is required.
Features
For movements that result in an increase in inventory in the HU-managed storage location, an inbound delivery is created. When this inbound delivery is posted goods receipt, the inventory in inventory management is changed accordingly. Depending on your Customizing settings, this posting can occur before or after putaway in WM.
For movements that result in a decrease in inventory in the HU-managed storage location, an outbound delivery is created. Then, a transfer order is created for this outbound delivery. When this outbound delivery is posted goods issue, the inventory in inventory management is changed accordingly.
A posting change delivery is created for posting-change movement types (changing stock status from quality inspection to unrestricted-use, for example). Then, a transfer order is created for this posting-change delivery. Inventory management is changed accordingly when goods issue is posted for this posting-change delivery.
If there is also a change in storage locations during the posting change, the system checks whether both storage locations refer to the same warehouse numbers. In this case, a posting-change delivery is created. Otherwise, an inbound- or outbound delivery would be created.
If the posting change involves moving the stock from one storage location to another and both storage locations refer to the same warehouse number but one of the storage locations is HU-managed, this action is not possible with a one-step movement type such as 311, since the stock must be unpacked and packed. Instead, use either the handling unit function (HU02) or two-step movement type such as 313 for this process.
