Use

There are a number of additional functions for the Gateway Monitor that you can use for monitoring and analysis. To access these functions, choose Goto ® Expert functions.

Prerequisites

The initial screen of the Gateway Monitor is open.

Features

The following functions are available:

Function

Use

Load balance table

Displays the load balancing table when Load Balancing for Registered Programs is in use.

Read side info file

Displays the side info file used by the gateway. This file is set with the profile parameter gw/sideinfo (see Parameterization of the SAP Gateway) (default /usr/sap/<SID>/<INSTANCE>/data/sideinfo). The contents of the file are simply displayed as a list.

For more detailed information on the side info concept, see Side Information Tables.

Memory allocation

The current memory allocation (that is, all locked request blocks) is displayed. The number of each request block and the process which is currently using it are also displayed.

Network addresses

Displays all network addresses of the current host. Also tells you where the names were taken from.

Host name buffer

The host name buffer buffers the assignments of IP addresses to host names. This enhances performance during connection establishment.

This function can display the host name buffer, write it to a file, or reset it.

Statistics

Allows you to check the performance of the SAP Gateway. You can activate and deactivate these statistics dynamically. Resetting the statistics causes all the data currently gathered to be deleted and the statistics to be deactivated.

You can display, activate, deactivate, or reset the statistics.

The statistics display includes the following values:

  • Timeout count
  • Request block overflow count
  • Request count (read and work processes)
  • Total request time (read and work processes)
  • Time per request (minimum, mean, maximum for read and work processes)
  • Longest request (read process)
  • TCP statistics
  • CPI-C statistics

External security

Here, you can:

  • Display security
  • Read security again

This allows the security information to be modified during the runtime of the gateway.

For further information, see Authorizations for External Programs (Security).

Started programs

Displays the list of started programs (see the parameter description for gw/startup in Parameterization of the SAP Gateway).
