Financial Services

SAP R/3 Enterprise consists of an SAP R/3 Enterprise Core and several SAP R/3 Extensions. The Extensions are delivered in an SAP R/3 Enterprise add-on.

SAP CFM and SAP Banking are being delivered with SAP R/3 Enterprise Financial Services 1.10, which follows on from Release Banking 4.63/CFM 2.0. The SAP R/3 Enterprise Financial Services Extension also contains the Investment Management component for insurance companies.

SAP R/3 Enterprise is based on the concept of decoupling developments in the SAP R/3 Enterprise Core (primarily infrastructure, quality, performance, and development to meet legal requirements) from new development in the SAP R/3 Enterprise Extensions. This enables you to deploy flexible implementation strategies for system upgrades and add the Extensions you need on a step-by-step basis.

In order to use the R/3 Enterprise functions that have replaced the former R/3 core components Treasury Management (TR-TM), Market Risk Management (TR-MRM) and Loans Management (TR-LO), you must activate the Financial Services Extension to R/3 Enterprise. The former Treasury Market Risk Management (TR-MRM) component is delivered as a CFM component in the SAP R/3 Enterprise Extension for Financial Services, and is no longer part of the SAP R/3 Enterprise Core.

By contrast, the Treasury components Cash Management (TR-CM) and Cash Budget Management (TR-CBM) still belong to the SAP R/3 Enterprise Core.
