Entering content frameProcedure documentation Creating Production Resources/Tools as Material Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

  1. On the R/3 main menu, choose Logistics ® Production ® Master data ® Production resources/tools, and then Prod.resources/tools ® Material ® Create general.
  2. If you want to create the production resource/tool (PRT) for a certain date in the future, rather than immediately, choose Material ® Create ® Schedule.

  3. Enter the data on the initial screen.
  4. Use a material type that allows you to maintain the Production Resources/Tools view. In the standard system, the material type Prod.resources/tools has been defined for this purpose.

  5. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.
  6. The Select View(s) dialog box appears.

  7. Select the Production Resources/Tools view and, if required, views of other user departments in which PRTs are to be taken into account. Choose Continue.
  8. The Organizational Levels dialog box appears.

  9. Enter the plant to which you want to assign the PRT, as well as organizational levels and profiles if you have selected further views.
  10. If you have specified on the initial screen that you want to copy from a reference, also enter the organizational levels from which the reference data is to be copied.

  11. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.
  12. The first view appears.

  13. Enter data as required and choose the next tab page.
  14. Repeat step 6 until you have maintained all views.
  15. Note

    By specifying the MM/PP status, you release the material for use as a production resource/tool.

    After you have assigned the material as a production resource/tool to operations, you can no longer change the base unit of measure or the unit of issue.

  16. Save the material.
