Position 

Definition

This is an aggregation unit where the position components are managed in the parallel valuation areas. The position is the most detailed level into which you can break down the balance sheet accounts. Valuations are performed at the position level. Derived business transactions are generated at this level. Book values are maintained at this level also.

The differentiation terms delimit the positions. In the Securities area you determine how the positions are to be delimited in Customizing. Choose Transaction Manager ® General Settings ® Accounting ® Parallel Valuation Areas ® Settings for Position Management ® Define and Assign Differentiations.
