Procedure documentation Configuring the Gateway Service Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

1.       In the Exchange System Manager, select the SXC Gateway node for the SAP Exchange Connector instance that you want to configure, and invoke the context menu.

2.       Choose Properties.

3.       Make entries on the tab pages as follows:

Gateway

Address type

This is the standard address type of the connector, and should not usually be changed. You can choose X.400 instead of SMTP.

Address type of FAX connector

Specify the fax type that can be processed by Exchange.

R/3 code page in NT notation

A list containing values for frequently used code pages is available.

R/3 code page in R/3 notation

To find the value for the code page, run the report RSPARAM1 on the application server onto which the SAP Exchange Connector logs on. The value is in the list under install/codepage/appl_server.

Enable message tracking

Specify whether Microsoft message tracking is to be active for the SAP Exchange Connector.

Create complete NDRs

If this option is selected, the original messages and their attachments are returned to the sender with the NDRs.

If neither this nor the following option are selected, the NDRs are sent without information about the original messages.

Create short NDRs with this text

If this option is selected, the NDRs are sent to the sender with the important information about the original messages, but without message text and attachments.

Text field

If you have selected the previous option, you can enter a text here that will be displayed in the NDRs instead of the original message text.

Recipient policy to calculate enterprise GDI for MTS-Ids

Rules for generating message IDs. The default is created during installation. For more information, see the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server product documentation.

Service

Display name

The name of the SAP Exchange Connector as displayed under Services in the Control Panel.

Account

The service account under which the SAP Exchange Connector is to run. If the connector is installed on a domain controller, you should use the LocalSystem account. Otherwise, you must use an account that has the right to log on as service and ‘Receive As’ and ‘Send As’ permissions on the mailbox store.

Password

Password for the service account (case-sensitive).

Password confirmation

Password again.

Service ID

Enter a unique number for the identification of each SAP Exchange Connector component published in the Exchange administrative group. This service ID cannot be assigned to any other Gateway, RFC In or RFC Out component.

Logging

Specify the desired log output by selecting File and/or Event Log. For each category of error, specify the level of information to be output. The default settings are Event Log and minimum/maximum/maximum. You can select the SAP Support Level checkbox at runtime to increase the level of information to maximum for all three categories of error without starting the SAP Exchange Connector services.

SAP System

Specify the time zone in which the SAP database server runs. This makes it possible to display dates and times for the messages, in the time zone in which the Exchange server is located.

Reports

Here you can specify prefixes and texts for generated reports.

Text Attachments

List all file extensions that are to be handled as text. Inbound messages are converted according to the code pages specified above. The texts have line breaks according to the line length specified for each document class.

Address Space

Specify the address spaces for which the SAP Exchange Connector is to be responsible. You can only enter address spaces of the types SMTP, FAX and X.400. For SMTP address spaces, the domain should always be preceded by @. You must enter * before the @ if the address space is to apply to all users within the domain. For more information, see the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server product documentation.

Delivery Restrictions

You can specify whether messages are to be rejected or accepted by default, and whether messages from specific senders are to be rejected or accepted. If you configure the delivery restrictions option for a connector and the restrictions are not applied, choose Show article Q279813 for assistance from Microsoft. For more information, see the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server product documentation.

Advanced

You can specify a size limit for messages. If you specify a maximum size, the sender of any message that exceeds that size receives an NDR with a corresponding explanation. For more information, see the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server product documentation.

Details

This provides information about when the gateway was created and when it was last modified. It is also possible to enter notes. For more information, see the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server product documentation.

4.       Confirm your entries with OK.
