The R/3 System uses ISO character standards. With a transfer file that was written, for example, in ISO-Latin1, a data conversion on import is not necessary.

You must enter the following values for the +SC parameter in the administrative section of the transfer file (see Transfer File for Phrases for example):

When exporting, the environment parameter value EXPORT_CHARACTER_NORM that you specified in the IMG activity Specify Environment Parameters in Customizing for Product Safety controls the format in which the transfer file exists:

The R/3 System automatically enters the environment parameter value EXPORT_CHARACTER_NORM into the transfer file for the +SC parameter.

Caution

You must use EH&S Native Language Support in order for the system to perform the conversions described when importing and exporting. This means that you must have set the environment parameter MULTI_CODEPAGE_SUPPORT in the IMG activity Specify Environment Parameters in Customizing for Product Safety.

If you are not using EH&S NLS and your EH&S data is on the database in Microsoft code page format, you must not set the environment parameter MULTI_CODEPAGE_SUPPORT. Data is therefore not converted when either being imported or exported.
