Prerequisites

You have activated the tab page for serialization data in the equipment master record, and the equipment has both a material number and a serial number.

We also recommend that you set the serialization profile of the material in Customizing for serial number management in such a way that the stock check is set to 2, that is, you receive an error message if there are inconsistencies in the stock data.

Features

General

When removing equipment from storage, the system uses the stock data of the equipment entered to determine the plant, the storage location, and, if necessary, the batch, and fills the fields accordingly. You merely have to enter the installation location, installation time, and the account assignment.

For removals, the system uses the equipment to determine the removal location and fills out the field accordingly. You merely have to specify the installation data, together with the removal time and the account assignment.

You can refer to a reservation both for removals and for installations. In both cases the system checks whether the reserved material corresponds to the equipment serial number.

For both the removal and for the installation, you can check in advance whether all the information for the movement is available to the system and whether the installation or removal is possible. Certain checks (for example, the account determination) are not, however, performed in the test run.

You can save the messages, that are displayed during the installation or removal, for logging purposes using Display Application Log in the application log. You can use transaction SLG1 to analyze the application log.

If you want to undo a removal or an installation with goods movement, you simply execute the opposite functions. There is no independent cancellation function. Note that for inspection lots, you must first make a usage decision and post the stock to the unrestricted-use stock, before you can execute the opposite function with movement type 502.

By double-clicking on the functional location, equipment, material or serial number, you can branch to the corresponding master data.

Automatic Switch Between Installation and Removal Mode

It could make sense for your tasks if the system automatically switches to the installation mode after Removal a piece of equipment and transferring it to storage. You can make this setting using the SET/GET parameter CMS. For this, under SAP Easy Access ® System ® User Parameter ® Own Data, choose the tab page Parameter and set the indicator x for the parameter CMS.

Note

This function supports neither goods receipt for the purchase order (movement type 101) nor stock transfers.

A change of batch and movement type, as well as the simultaneous removal and installation of several pieces of equipment, is not possible.

The function is not intended for batch input nor for calling up using "call transaction".
