Prerequisites

Before you create the engineering structure, the following engineering data must be maintained:

Process

  1. Create the access node for the engineering structure.

Choose the application PLM Environment and an iPPE object type that has been defined for access to an engineering structure. Enter the product class.

You can classify the access node (in classes of class type 053 for iPPE Nodes).

  1. Create engineering nodes for the requirements or goals.
  2. Choose the application PLM Environment and an iPPE object type that has been defined for engineering nodes in an engineering structure. Enter the product class.

    You can classify the engineering node (in classes of class type 053 for iPPE Nodes).

  3. Use relationships to link the nodes.
    In the context menu of a node, under Create Relationships, there is a list of all the relationships that can be maintained for an iPPE object.

For example, use the context menu to create the following relationships for an engineering node:

The selection of relationships that you can maintain for an iPPE object in the application early engineering is defined in your company-specific settings in Customizing for Integrated Product and Process Engineering (iPPE).

Result

The final engineering structure documents all the requirements and goals for the product of the selected product class.
