When you work with functions Define Query or Adjust result area, you may need to widen, extend, or shorten the result area. In this case, a dialog appears which allows you to choose whether this change of size should be combined with a deletion / insertion of cells, rows, or columns. In this way you can control the result area’s position in relation to other areas in your worksheet.

You can choose one of three options:

• Do not insert / delete anything

• Insert / delete cells at the area’s right / lower border

• Insert / delete full rows / columns at the area’s right / lower border

Please note, however, that each of the three may fail in certain cases - if other, conflicting array functions are defined in the worksheet.

• If area A holds an array function, the option "Do not insert anything" will fail, because half of A would have to be covered

• If area B holds an array function, the option "Insert cells at the right border" will fail, because the upper half of B would have to be shifted away from the lower half

• If area C holds an array function, the option "Insert a full column" will fail, because the new column would have to run right through C
