Use

The requirements placed by retailers on IT solutions in the areas of planning and distribution differ greatly from industrial companies who have targets oriented towards production and manufacturing. During installation or when changing upgrading to a newer release, it is therefore possible to characterize SAP R/3 components as SAP Retail. Do this by settings the "Retail Switch".

Integration

Only after you have configured your SAP R/3 system as an SAP Retail system can fully use the functional capabilities of mySAP Retail, SAP’s solution for retailing. Configuring your system in this way and using specific Retail functions may restrict your use of other R/3 functions from other areas. You cannot fully use all existing functions at the same time. The reason for this being that the article master in Retail systems differs greatly from the article master in other systems.

Note

Your SAP Retail system uses standard terms or Retail terms only (for more information, see Retail Terminology). This documentation is intended to make a clearer differentiation between the term material for master data records created using transactions in standard R/3 (manufacturing system) and article for master data records created using transactions in R/3.

Prerequisites

You are only allowed to set up your system as an SAP Retail system if you have a valid license for mySAP Retail.

Caution

Once you have set up your system as an SAP Retail system, you cannot reverse the setting.

Activities

The Installation Guide or Upgrade Guide for SAP R/3 details how to configure your system as an SAP Retail system.

Use program GETSYSDEF to check your SAP R/3 configuration
