Temporary Storage (iSeries)

Using the following parameters, you can limit the maximum use of the process-specific temporary storage. This in turn limits the maximum use of temporary storage by an SAP Web Application Server.

Parameters for Controlling the Use of Temporary Storage:

Parameter	Description
rdisp/PG_SHM	Paging memory per application server
rdisp/PG_MAXFS	Paging memory per application server
abap/heap_area_dia	Heap limit for a dialog work process
abap/heap_area_nondia	Heap limit for a non-dialog work process
abap/heap_area_total	Heap limit for the entire SAP Web Application Server
em/initial_size_MB	Extended memory pool per application server

Temporary storage almost completely covers the memory requirements of your SAP System. The main consumers are:

Internal buffers with a fixed share (PXA, table buffer, paging buffer)

Memory management with a fixed share (extended memory)

Memory management with a variable share (roll memory, private memory) depending on the number of users logged on and the application type (direct memory requirements)
