Use

You have to maintain various archiving settings before starting the archiving programs. This includes the size of the archive file and the variants for running the deletion program in test and production modes.

Features

Archive Files

You have to enter the size of your archive file in megabytes. SAP recommends that you enter between 50 and 100 megabytes.

Note

You can also restrict the size of the archive file via the maximum number of data objects. SAP recommends however that you do not use this parameter, and instead, make no entry here. Therefore, only the parameter Maximum Size in MB applies to the archive file.

Variants for the Deletion Program

You have to enter variants for both the test run and production run of the deletion program.

Caution

You must ensure that the Test Run indicator is not selected in the production run variant for the deletion program. If the Test Run indicator is selected, the records that have been archived will not be deleted from the database after they have been written to the archive files.

You must also ensure that the Test Run indicator is selected in the test run variant for the deletion program.

You can use the following variants delivered by SAP:

Connection to the Archive Information System (AS)

To display individual objects for the archiving object FI_SL_DATA using the Structure linkArchive Information System (AS), or for the individual object access via the AS (from transactions GD13, GD20, GD23, GD33), you need an information structure that has been created based on the standard field catalogs SAP_FI_SL_001 or SAP_FI_SL_002 delivered by SAP. The information structure must be activated and set up.

Recommendation

Use the information structures SAP_FI_SL_001 or SAP_FI_SL_002 delivered as standard.

To access archived FI-SL documents via the Structure linkDocument Relationship Browser, you have to have an active information structure for the field catalog SAP_FI_SL.

For more information about information structures, see also Structure linkUsing the Archive Information System.

For more information about the Archive Information System, see the SAP Library under Cross-Application Components ® Archiving Application Data (CA-ARC) ® Introduction to Data Archiving (CA-ARC) ® Archive Information System (SAP AS).
