Definition

Archiving object FI_SL_DATA used to archive totals and/or line item records in the Special Purpose Ledger (FI-SL) application component.

Use

When you select the menu path Accounting ® Financial Accounting ® Special Purpose Ledger ® Periodic Processing ® Archiving, FI_SL_DATA is displayed automatically and you do not have to set this value. If you access Archive Administration from elsewhere in the system, you need to enter the name of the archiving object.

You can use the FI_SL_DATA archiving object to archive and delete line item records according to your own specific requirements. For example, if your database contains a large number of journal entries, you can archive these records regularly. If your system has enough storage space, you need only archive the journal entries once per fiscal year.

The archiving object also enables you to evaluate archived data. You can reload archived data, but you should only do this as an exception.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

You cannot reload data archived before a local currency changeover after the local currency changeover has taken place.

Caution

You must not archive totals records during a fiscal year because the year is part of the totals record key. If, for example, you were to archive a totals record in May and then make new system postings in June, a new totals record would be created. This would lead to inconsistencies with the totals record that has already been archived.
