Production Orders Without Quantity Structure

Use

If the application component Controlling (CO) is being used without the application component Production Planning (PP), you can create a production order in CO (production order without quantity structure) that represents the production order of PP (production order with quantity structure) from the point of view of cost accounting.

Features

The planned costs for production orders without a quantity structure are calculated with the functions of unit costing.

You can collect the actual costs for production orders without a quantity structure in the following ways:

Posting goods issues

Internal activity allocations

Allocation of process costs

Revaluation of activities at actual prices

Overhead calculation

A production order without a quantity structure can be credited with goods receipt postings.

You can calculate work in process and variances for production orders without a quantity structure.

Constraints

Functions in the Production Planning component such as scheduling and capacity planning are not available for production orders without a quantity structure.

You cannot calculate work in process at target cost or calculate scrap variances for production orders without a quantity structure. This is because work in process and scrap variances at target cost are determined by valuating the quantities confirmed at operations. It is not possible to confirm operations in PP for a production order without quantity structure.

Work in process would be calculated at target cost if the settlement type PER were specified in the settlement rule. However, it is recommended that work in process be calculated at actual cost for all production orders – both with and without quantity structure. This means that the settlement type specified in the settlement rule should be FUL (full settlement).
