The Information System for investment programs allows you to create reports using either the current R/3 online database or a summarization database. Each of these types of database have their own standard reports. Each standard report is designed to be used either with the current database or a summarized database, but never with both.

In the standard system, standard reports are in the controlling area currency, since the system always stores the complete budget, plan, and assigned values in this currency. However, you can enter a different reporting currency for the given report on its initial screen. The system then determines for each object (investment program position, appropriation request, internal order or WBS element) if the reporting currency is the same as the object currency:

• If yes, then the system also saves all budget, plan and assigned values of the object in the reporting currency (=object currency) and these can be read from the database.

• If no, then the system translates all budget, plan and assigned values of the object from the controlling area currency into the reporting currency at the time the report is run. For this currency translation, the system uses the exchange rate type in the investment program type of the investment program. (See the Group Reporting group box in the definition of the investment program type.) For the value date of the translation, the system uses the first day of the approval year of the investment program.
