Use

If the Sales and Distribution (SD) module is not operational in your company, you can transfer billing data to Profitability Analysis using an external interface. You can also use this interface to transfer other data, such as legacy data.

Features

The interface for external data transfer involves a cross-application component with which the data can be written directly to the corresponding tables in CO-PA.

A log for the transfer is generated so that you can easily identify and rectify any errors that occur (see Evaluation of the Logs).

Note

You can set up the transfer of actual data to CO-PA in such a way so that the system also generates a batch input session, along with the output file, for importing corrected data. For this, use the Batch Input option under Expert Mode. After rectifying any errors, you then have to decide which of the two functions you wish to use for transferring the corrected data records. You are not permitted to use both functions because doing so would cause the data to be posted twice!

The Test Data Editor enables you to test the transfer of external data. You use it to create sequential files and then to fill these files with test data.

Activities

You set up external data transfers to CO-PA in Customizing under Tools ® Data Transfer Between CO-PA and Other Systems ® CO-PA External Data Transfer.

To start the transfer, choose Tools ® External Data Transfer ® Execute in the CO-PA application menu. For more detailed information about the options available in the selection screen, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.
