Line Item Lists

Definition

The line item list is a tool for displaying in the SAP List Viewer (ALV) Grid Control the line items posted to Profitability Analysis .

Use

By restricting your selection criteria (see Data Selection for Line Item Lists), you can display a specific amount of line items in the line item list. The line item list is especially useful for displaying characteristics that you do not use for creating profitability segments and that you have deactivated accordingly in Customizing (by choosing Structures ® Define Profitability Segments Characteristics (Segment-Level Characteristics). In costing-based Profitability Analysis, these characteristics are still filled in the line item and hence listed in the line item list.

You can display either planning data or actual data in a line item list.

If you wish to analyze your line items using the drilldown reporting functions instead of the SAP List Viewer functions, use the line-item based reports.

Structure

Each line item list consists of a header and a list section. The header contains the selection criteria, the number of line items read, the layout or variant used, and the access method.

The way the list area is structured depends on the Layout used in each case. You can define different layouts by tailoring the list area to your requirements (for example, by showing/hiding and moving the characteristics and values in the columns, by sorting rows, and setting filters for specific values) and then saving this view as a layout. You can set one of the layouts as the standard layout. This layout will then be used the next time you call up the line item list. If you do not specify a standard layout, then one of the standard layouts delivered by SAP is used.

Functions in Line Item Lists

A number of SAP List Viewer functions are available with which you can display additional information, such as

Sort the list according to the values in one column
Switch the layout
Return to the standard layout
Create totals and subtotals for quantity fields
Hide/Display fields
ABC analysis

Furthermore, you can choose several functions specific to CO-PA, such as

By choosing Profitability segment, you can display the profitability segment to which the line item is posted.
Using the function Master data, you can display the billing document, sales order, FI document, or (for periodic valuation) CO-PA original line item that created that line item. In line items from periodic valuation, the reference document number is the document number of the original line item (not in account-based Profitability Analysis).
By double-clicking the appropriate line, you can display detailed information about the individual line items. The detail display is different depending on the plan/actual indicator and the type of Profitability Analysis.

Integration

You can call up the line item list from a number of different transactions:

By choosing Actual postings ® Display line item, you can then choose to display a specific line item from the line item list, even if you do not know the document number.

From the drilldown report by choosing Goto ® Line items (this displays the line items for the data shown in the report)
