Before valuating planning data using ratios, you need to define access characteristics. The access characteristics define the planning level on which the system should calculate the ratio. This makes it possible for you to find average prices at a summarized level, such as for product groups.
You enter access-level characteristics when you define ratios in Customizing.
The following is an example of valuation of quantities at different planning levels.

If you valuate this quantity plan using the ratio of sales revenue to sales quantity at the product level, the system determines a separate price for each product:
Product 1 is valuated with the price |
200 / 10 = 20 |
Product 2 is valuated with the price |
700 / 20 = 35 |

If you valuate this quantity plan using the ratio of sales revenue to sales quantity at the product group level, the system determines a single average price for all the products in each individual product group:
(200 + 700) / (10+20) = 30 |
