Summarization During Transfer to CO-PA
Use
You can summarize multiple items of a sender document into one line item during the transfer to Profitability Analysis (CO-PA).
This summarization reduces the volume in the line item table (CE1xxxx). This is especially useful when you want to transfer large amounts of data from an external system. Moreover, summarizing line items can reduce runtimes during data transfers to CO-PA.
The summarization takes place on a sender document basis (billing document or financial accounting document). It is not possible to summarize the data across multiple documents. The system retains only the document number of the sender document as the proof of origin. Consequently, it is no longer possible to attribute the data in the CO-PA document to the corresponding item of the sender document.

There you will also find examples for summarization.You can maintain the summarization for billing documents, financial accounting documents and logistic documents such as incoming invoices, goods movement documents and goods receipts for purchase orders. This applies to both external and internal documents. In this case, an external sender document can be either an IDoc (an intermediate document that is imported from an external system via the central interface to accounting) or a BAPI (Business Application Programming Interface).
The indicator "External" can only be selected for the transfer of billing documents. Use the IDoc ACLREC01 (Load Receivable) or the BAPI BILLING for the external data transfer.
Summarization can take place at one of two different points of time:
If you choose to summarize before derivation and valuation ("2"), the system can transfer the data to CO-PA more quickly than for "1", since the derivation and valuation functions do not need to be applied to as many line items.
If you summarize before derivation and valuation ("2"), the system runs valuation on the basis of the summarized data. If you have defined scales in valuation, this could lead to incorrect results.
