Analysis Options Using Valuation

Use

There are various functions with which you can analyze your Customizing settings for valuating actual and planning data.

Features

With the Customizing Monitor, you can gain an overview of all the Customizing settings relevant to CO-PA valuation.

The Valuation Analysis option is attached to different functions (such as manual line item entry or manual planning) and enables you to analyze in detail at the value field level all the individual valuation steps executed by the system during a given CO-PA valuation strategy.

With the Valuation Simulation function, you can analyze the effect Customizing settings have at different points of valuation, without having to use a posting transaction.

Customizing Monitor

You access the CO-PA Customizing Monitor by choosing Tools ® Analysis ® Check Customizing Settings. Then you can select the Overview of valuation node to display - in conjunction with the operating concern, point of valuation, and record type - the valuation strategies that have been defined.

Valuation Analysis

You can perform detailed valuation analysis using a range of functions with which valuation is possible. Examples of such functions are:

Manual Line Item Entry

Simulating Billing Document Transfer (you access the analysis tool by choosing Tools ® Analysis in CO-PA Customizing)

Simulation of Document Transfer from Incoming Sales Orders

Subsequent Posting of Billing Documents

Periodic Valuation of Actual Data

Manual Planning Data Entry

When you have carried out valuation, start the analysis by choosing Extras ® Valuation analysis. The system then presents you with information about the business transactions in the valuation strategy that you executed. Such information includes the values that were entered and those that were issued. Moreover, you can display detailed information about the individual valuation methods and then jump to the Customizing settings.

Among the options open to you, you can execute a condition analysis for valuation with conditions and run an access analysis to see how a material cost estimate is read with flexible access. You call up these two functions separately:

For the access analysis, choose Extras ® Analyze Product Cost Planning
For the condition analysis, choose Edit ® Condition analysis

Valuation Simulation

To test valuation in detail or to run a detailed analysis of errors, you can simulate valuation in Customizing by choosing Tools ® Analysis ® Valuation Simulation for the different points of valuation. The screen that appears matches that for manual line item entry, but no values are posted. From this screen, you can use the valuation analysis described above, as well as the separate condition and access analyses.

Changes that you make at the same time in Customizing for valuation take immediate effect in this function, without your first having to quit the transaction.
