The Splitscreen Editor supports the special functions listed below. Some of these functions can only be activated for certain calls (see also Starting the Splitscreen Editor).

Compare

Compares the two sets of source code. The comparison is no longer line-based (as in previous versions of the splitscreen editor). Instead it is statement-based. To call this function click on the icon This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

You can suppress comment lines and indentations using the Settings function.

Differences in the source text are highlighted. Where lines have been inserted, the system inserts the same number of $$ lines at the corresponding position. In compare mode, the system scrolls both windows when you use the arrow keys. To scroll asynchronously, use the scrollbars and page up / page down keys.

Note

The lines marked with $$ cannot be edited and are removed when you save.

Compare Mode Off

Switching off compare mode removes the blank lines inserted in the source code and the special formatting used to highlight the difference. Synchronous scroll mode is deactivated at the same time. The scrolling keys again depend on the cursor.

Next Similarity

The system positions both windows at the next point that is identical on both sides.

Previous Similarity

The system positions both windows at the previous point that is identical on both sides.

Next Difference

The system positions both windows at the next difference.

Previous Difference

The system positions both windows at the previous difference.

The starting point for the above positioning functions is always the current page. You can therefore skip several differences simply by scrolling.

Copy to Buffer (only with Modification Assistant)

Copies the block of code at the current cursor position that was marked by the compare function into the buffer. The comment lines inserted by the Modification Assistant are removed.
