Overview

Use

The Splitscreen Editor is used by the Modification Assistant as an editor for comparing the database with temporary storage.

Prerequisites

If you intend to compare programs between systems, the remote system must be entered in the RFC destinations table RFCDES.

Cross-system comparisons between methods of the ABAP classes are not possible at the moment.

Features

Comparison of source code both within a system and between systems (cross-system only for programs).

Synchronization is now statement-based instead of line-based.

Each half of the screen is a version of the ABAP Editor with a restricted range of functions.

Extra splitscreen editor functions, such as comparison, text positioning, and copying blocks to the other side.

Parameters can be defined for the editor with user-specific settings (Utilities ® Settings). In particular, you can decide whether to use the editor in Frontend Editor or Backend Editor mode.

When using the Frontend Editor (Utilities ® Settings ® ABAP Editor ® Editor | Frontend Editor) you can change the sizes of the two halves of the window with the splitter.

Navigation

You can use forward navigation from the splitscreen editor. Objects to which you navigate are always displayed in the fullscreen.
