Checking General Settings
Use
The processes in early engineering are supported by a wide range of functions from different application areas. There is no separate Customizing for the product designer. To ensure that processes run smoothly, you need to check the system settings for the integrated applications areas.
Procedure
The following overview shows the settings for the individual editing processes.

Function |
Settings in Application Area |
|
Send mail |
Transactions
Set up the server configuration for the SMTP protocol. The SMTP node for the mail service must be active. |
|
Edit product structure and engineering structure in the iPPE Workbench |

|
Classification of iPPE nodes and iPPE variants |
Customizing for Classification Activity Maintain Object Types and Class Types

|
|
Edit documents |
Customizing for Document Management
For links to iPPE variants, an entry for object POSVID is required. Screen number 500 applies to both objects. |
|
Display material master |
Transaction
Select function MAT_REQ (Display Material). Then maintain an entry for each field you want to display.
Define the scope of data that is transferred to the frontend for a specific user group. The assignment of a user to a user group (for example, ENGINEER) is done in the user master record (parameter PLM_USERGROUP). |
|
Display work items |
Transaction
Check the workflow Customizing.
Start this transaction if workflow processes run with errors (for example, if no work items land in the workflow inbox). You can display individual work items and work item containers, and workflow logs. |
|
Status maintenance for component variants and generic engineering nodes |
This status maintenance is only possible if you have maintained the statuses for iPPE objects in Customizing for Integrated Product and Process Engineering (iPPE). |
|
ITS connection |
Hyperlinks to R/3 via the Internet Transaction Server (ITS) are only possible if you have an ITS installed. You can check this connection in the Web Application Builder (transaction SE80). Test for an ITS service. |
