Procedure

You maintain the triggering events on the tab page Triggering events.

  1. Identify the event by specifying its object type category, its object type, and its instance ID. The event must be defined for this object type.
  2. Note

If you are looking at a task in display mode, whose original system is not the current system, you can create additional triggering events. This creates an extension of the task definition.

  3. To activate the type linkage, select This graphic is explained in the accompanying text in the column This graphic is explained in the accompanying text. Active type linkages are denoted by This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.
  4. To define the binding from the event container, select the relevant event line and choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text. For more information, see Binding Definitions from Event Container.
  5. Select the triggering event and choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text. The properties of the type linkage are displayed and can be changed.

Result

The workflow system creates an appropriate type linkage. For more information on linkage transport, refer to Transport and Client Copy.

Note

If an error occurs when a task or workflow is started with an event, the standard procedure is for the system to deactivate the type linkage to avoid any follow-on errors. At the same time, the system sends an e-mail to the workflow system administrator. You can change this procedure for the event in its properties or adapt the standard procedure in event queue administration.
