Material Exchange

Prerequisites

The superior assembly must already have been saved as order or project-specific.

Procedure

Select the BOM header whose material you want to exchange.

Open the BOM header context menu with the right mouse button and select Material Exchange.

The Setting Material Data dialog box appears.

If you do not enter a material number, the system assigns a material number from an internal number range.

The system carries out the material exchange.

Result

The system

Copies the BOM for the previous material and saves it as an order BOM, whose header is then assigned the new material number

Replaces the previous component in the superior order BOM item with a component that has the new material number

Writes a log, in which system activities during the material exchange are documented.
