Milestone Functions 
Use
Predefined milestone functions are used in networks to trigger a sequence of events for a particular business process.
You are planning the construction of a glass elevator using a network. After the activity approval is released, the network will be automatically updated to include a standard network procurement containing all activities related to purchasing.
Features
The following milestone functions are available:
· Release the activities that follow directly
· Release to release milestone
If no release stop indicator has been defined for the network, all the remaining activities (defined with relationships) in the network are released.
· Include standard network
If you enter both a preceding and successive ending for the network, the system will automatically create FS relationships from the preceding activity to the first activity in the standard network and/or from the final activity in the standard network to the successive activity.
· Creating a Network
You can create a new network by copying an existing standard network.
If the standard network, which is being used to copy the network from, has relationships to another standard network that has already been used to create another network, the relationships between the two networks have the same structure as those between the two standard networks.
· Include subnetwork
Creates a subnetwork from an existing standard network. The activity in the network you enter in Parameters is given extra detail by the subnetwork.
· Start workflow task
You can use this milestone function to activate one of your own workflow tasks or one of SAP’s standard workflow task.

Triggering Milestone Functions
A milestone function can be automatically triggered by a change of the system or user status in an activity.
If you enter both a system status and a user status for a milestone function, the system triggers the function both when the system status changes and when the user status changes. If the function is only to be triggered once, then the first status to change will be the one which triggers the function.
You
can trigger a milestone manually during confirmation of an
activity. In this case you decide when making the confirmation, whether the
function is triggered or not.
