Table Painter 

Use

You use the Table Painter to design the layout of templates and tables using line types.

In this screen capture, you see the Table Painter in the lower part, highlighted by a 3D frame (which you can switch on/off using the settings). Above the Table Painter are the functions that allow you to provide the line types with boxes and shading.

1. Define your line types graphically (see: Defining Line Types)
2. Provide your line types with boxes and shading
3. Use the functions of the context menu
4. Use the keyboard commands for fine-tuning
5. Choose Settings from the toolbar to make detailed settings for the Form Painter (for example, step size in the grids, zoom factors, and so on; for help on the options use F1). All Table Painter settings are stored for the respective user when he or she leaves transaction SMARTFORMS (using yellow or green arrow). The same applies for the Form Painter settings.



It is not sufficient to end form editing. To save the settings, you must exit the initial screen of the transaction. If you log off the system during form editing, the settings are not saved because the system does not recognize this as exiting the transaction.

6. Choose Details to go to the details settings if you want to enter values and units for the sizes manually. To change the vertical alignment of a template, you must use the details view.
7. If you used a line type in another table or template, double-click it to go to the first usage of this line type in the navigation tree.
