Migration of the Contents of the Information Database 3.0

Use

If you have already entered data with the Information Database 3.0 and now want to use the Knowledge Warehouse, you can convert your data by migrating it. You can then continue working with your old data and also enter new data in the Knowledge Warehouse.

Prerequisites

You need an R/3 System on which the Information Database 3.0 and the Knowledge Warehouse are installed.

The users who will work in the Knowledge Warehouse in the future must be maintained.

The migration tool is delivered on CD-ROM. You must install the migration tool on the PC you will use for the migration. The CD-ROM also contains the transport request that you must import into the R/3 System containing the Information Database and the Knowledge Warehouse.

The code page for the languages to be converted must reside on the PC on which the data of the individual languages is migrated.

You also need Office 97 and the Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher. These components must also be installed on the PC on which you will migrate the data.

Activities

You install the migration tool on the PC on which the data will be migrated. You also import the transport request into the R/3 System containing the Information Database and the Knowledge Warehouse.

You compare the users maintained in the Knowledge Warehouse with the users of the Information Database.

You start the migration tool on the PC and log onto the R/3 System containing the Information Database 3.0 and the Knowledge Warehouse.

A wizard guides you through the preparations for the migration.

Note

If you interrupt the migration, you can continue the migration again where you interrupted it.
