Use

If you use collective orders in logistics, you can analyze production costs from an order-related perspective for all collective orders or, alternatively, for a single production step in the Information System of Product Cost Controlling. The following text contains information to facilitate a correct interpretation of the displayed report data.

Features

Detailed Reports

You can use the detailed reports of Product Cost by Order to analyze costs for:

For detailed information on individual orders, use the detailed reports in the Information System of Product Cost by Order. These include reports on planned costs, target costs, actual costs, work in process and variances.

If you want to identify the costs of the entire manufacturing process for the production of a finished product, you can also use the above-mentioned detailed reports to give an account of a complete collective order. Proceed as follows:

After entering the order number of the leading order (highest order in the collective order) on the selection screen of a detailed report, choose Settings ® Collective order ® On / off. The selection screen of the report then shows the text Including subordinate orders. Carry out the report for the desired time frame.

The report shows the debits and credits of all manufacturing orders assigned to the collective order.

Example

You have created a collective order that contains two production orders. You have specified in the order type that goods movements are to take place between the production levels. One production order was created for the finished product being manufactured (FERT). The other production order was created for a semifinished product used in the finished product (HALB). Both materials are valuated at the standard price.

If you look at the planned costs for the entire collective order using the detailed report Planned Costs, the report shows the following:

Debit Side

Planned debit with the planned costs to manufacture the semifinished product

- Planned credit through delivery of the semifinished product to stock, valuated with the standard price of the semifinished product

+ Planned debit with withdrawal of the semifinished product to manufacture the finished product

+ Planned debit with other costs incurred in the manufacture of the finished product

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

= Total debits

Credit Side

Planned credit through delivery of the finished product to stock, valuated with the standard price of the finished product

= Total credits

The debit side of the report therefore shows the costs of all production levels. The total of these debits equals the costs of the entire production process.

If you only want to see the costs of a particular section of the collective order, choose Settings ® Collective order ® On / off on the selection screen of the detailed report. In the selection screen of the report, first enter the order number of a manufacturing order in the collective order. In addition to the costs of this order, the report also shows the costs of the orders that are below this order in the collective order.

Hierarchy Graphic

You can use the hierarchy graphic to:

You access the hierarchy graphic from the selection screen of a detailed report in Product Cost by Order by entering the order number and choosing Settings ® Collective order ® On / off. The Overview button then appears on the selection screen of the report. Use this button to access the hierarchy graphic.

This report shows an overview of all orders assigned to the collective order, whereby the individual hierarchy levels correspond to the production levels in manufacture. You can add key figures such as planned costs, actual costs, or work in process to the hierarchy graphic. This allows you to analyze the cost of goods manufactured on the individual production levels. You can also view the costs of the individual production levels summarized upwards. The total costs of the production process are shown at the highest level of the collective order. To see the costs by production levels, choose Settings ® Aggregation values ® Object-based in the hierarchy display. To summarize the costs of the individual production levels upwards, choose Settings ® Aggregation values ® Aggregate in the hierarchy display. The difference between the credit and debit is summarized upwards.

Note

Note that you can use the field catalog of the layouts to add key figures such as work in process or reserves for unrealized costs to the hierarchy graphic.

To analyze a single order in a collective order, you can go from the hierarchy display to a detailed report for the order.

You can also go from the hierarchy display to a detailed report for the entire collective order. This allows you to see the overall costs of the collective order broken down into cost elements, and to see the credit side of the collective order that results from the delivery of the leading order to stock.
