Use

There are several ways in which you can control promotion pricing.

Pricing for Individual Sites or Site Groups

If you have several stores participating in a promotion that involves the same article, you can choose to calculate promotion prices either individually for each store or for a group of stores (site group).

You can specify a reference site for each site group. Calculations are carried out for the reference site and the data is then copied to all other sites within the group. This means that calculating prices by site group is faster than doing it by individual store.

Across-the-Board Reductions

You can choose to reduce all or selected articles within a promotion by either:

This is true even if the articles have different sales prices. Price increases can be handled the same way as price reductions.

If you want to change prices for all articles in the promotion, first you select all the articles, then you select the Sales price column, then the Mass maintenance button. A dialog box appears where you can make the changes.

Alternatively, you can select a range of articles by selecting the Select chosen items button and defining a subset of the articles in the promotion, then proceeding with mass maintenance.

For more information on discounts, see Promotion Discounts.

Note

During mass maintenance, you can choose whether you want the system to use standard rounding, or always round down to the nearest price. For example, if an article is normally priced at 99¢ and has a promotion price reduction of 50%, standard rounding results in a price of 50¢ while rounding down results in a price of 49¢.

Price Point Rounding

You can round planned prices to price points, separately or in combination with one of the across-the-board reductions discussed above. In this case, the reduction (either specific amount or percentage) is calculated first, then the resulting price is rounded to the nearest price point.

Example

Normal price

$10.00

After 15% reduction

$8.50

Rounded to price point

$8.79

Price point groups must have already been established before you can use this feature. You can create price points that are valid only for promotions and that are different from those in standard pricing. For more information, see Rounding to Price Points.

Integration

The actual pricing calculations are done by the Pricing component, then transferred back to the Promotion component.
