Packing the Material Produced

Purpose

In this process you can group the material produced from a production order in handling units. You pack the material and post the goods receipt with reference to the handling unit or to the order. Doing this means that material can be divided between several handling units.

You can use this process, for instance, if you want to pack products individually in make-to-stock production. To do this you use various packing instructions during packing, for partial quantities of the material produced.

Prerequisites

The following conditions must be fulfilled:

The storage location must be HU managed (set up in Customizing under Logistics General ® Handling Unit Management ® Basics ® Material management ® Inventory Management ® HU Requirement for Storage Locations and Default Values for Deliveries)

No automatic goods receipt must be required for the material produced (this is set in the control key for the operation or in the production scheduling profile).

Process Flow

You create a production order and produce the material.

You pack the material produced for the production order (see Pack Material).

You post the goods receipt of the material produced (see Post Goods Receipt with HU).
