Use

This infotype is used to store the details from an employee’s Federal Employee Withholding Allowance Certificates (Form W-4) and from the employee's equivalent state and local Withholding Allowance Certificates, if applicable. The information stored on Infotype 0210 is used together with the information in Infotype 0234 Withholding Overrides and Infotype 0161 IRS Mandates to calculate withholding tax for an employee.

Structure

The fields and structure of Infotype 0210 will vary depending on whether you are creating an Infotype 0210 record with the Federal subtype or with a subtype for a state or local authority.

Exemptions

An employee’s W-4 or state/local equivalent may contain a number of allowances as well as amounts. These should be entered in the relevant sections.

If the IRS or other authority has set a limit on the number of allowances an employee may claim, the IRS mandates indicator will be active.

The Tax exempt indicator should be defined for employees who are exempt from withholding tax for a particular authority.

Withholding adjustments

An employee may also specify an additional amount to be withheld from their pay to go towards paying their federal, state and local taxes.

You can assign an alternative formula to be used to calculate the withholding.

W-5 filing status

The EIC status field is only available on the Federal subtype of Infotype 0210. If an employee turns in a Form W-5 (Earned Income Credit Advance Payment Certificate), you should enter the information from the form here.

Withholding Overrides

If an employee has withholding overrides defined on Infotype 0234 Withholding Overrides, this information is displayed here.
