Use

The Support Package Manager (transaction SPAM) is the customer side of Online Correction Support (OCS). The Support Package Manager lets you import SAP Support Packages into your system easily and efficiently.

Depending on the system used or the configuration of your system, you must import different Support Package types. You can get the Support Packages in the SAP Service Marketplace, the SAPNet- R/3 Frontend, or on Collection CDs.

The Support Package Manager runs at the SAP System level, so that knowledge of the operating system is not required for handling the tool.

Note

SAP now uses the term Support Package instead of patch.

Note that you can use this transaction only with SAP GUI for Java and SAP GUI for Windows.

Calling the Support Package Manager

You can call the Support Package Manager in one of two ways:

You can load the Support Packages you need into your system from the SAP Service Marketplace, SAPNet - R/3 Frontend, or from Collection CDs.

When you import a Support Package into your system, the Support Package Manager follows a predefined sequence of steps.

If the Support Package import terminates, you can resume it at a later point in time. Processing restarts at the step that failed.

- Displaying the import status

You can use the Support Package Manager to find out the import status of your system at any time.

You can use a special import procedure to minimize downtime (see also Inactive Import of Report Source Code and Texts).

The Support Package Manager is integrated into the SAP upgrade procedure.
