Use

In enhancements you can use SAP information objects or information objects of other basic Basis contexts by:

You can link to or include structures.

The following diagram shows how you can use SAP structures.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

To reuse standard SAP structures unchanged in your enhancement, either link to it (I.a) or include it (I.b). If a subsequent enhancement release is based on a more recent SAP release, this kind of reuse automatically uses the most recent SAP structure version.

If you only want to use a SAP structure in your enhancements in modified form, you must first create an enhancement version of the structure. This can then be modified and if necessary referenced with a link (II.a) or an include (II.b).

Enhancing SAP objects has the following advantages compared to creating information objects:

Activities

You link enhancement objects to SAP objects with Hyperlinks (see Structure link Maintaining Hyperlinks).

You link enhancement structures to SAP objects by putting them in the structure (see Structure link Putting Info Objects in a Structure).

You link enhancement structures to SAP structures by putting them in the structure as a link or an include (see Structure link Putting Info Objects in a Structure).

You create and modify enhancement versions of SAP objects.

The next time the SAP contents are updated, you can check which SAP information objects were changed using the Structure link structure comparison and with the Structure link modification list.
