Use

Coordinators can lock proposals in the proposal pool, to insure that a consistent translation is used for a specific short text in future.

Prerequisites

Before you can lock a proposal, the source text must have been translated manually at least once, so that a proposal exists for it in the proposal pool.

In order to set a lock for a proposal in the proposal pool, you need to have Coordinator status for proposal pool maintenance in your translator profile in transaction SLWA. For more information, see Creating Translator Profiles.

Procedure

  1. From the proposal pool, select the proposal(s) you want to lock.

For information on how to access the proposal pool, see Structure link Accessing the Proposal Pool.

  1. Select Lock text.

The proposal(s) you have selected will now be flagged with the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text icon in the proposal pool.

  1. Now choose Save.
  2. To unlock a proposal, select the proposal and choose Reset text lock. Save your entries.

Result

From now on, the proposal that you have locked can only be changed by coordinators with Coordinator status for proposal pool maintenance.

Translators can recognize the source texts for which the proposal is locked because they will be marked with the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text icon in the short text editor.

Translators with status lower than Coordinator will not be able to change this proposal from now on.
