Use
You restore the offline redo log files when using SAPDBA to perform a
partial restore and complete recovery of your Oracle database.During a restore, BRRESTORE restores backups of the offline redo log files. If SAPDBA determines that the archiving directory
<SAPDATA_HOME>/saparch does not have enough space to restore all the necessary redo log files, the redo logs that have already been used are deleted and the next required redo logs are restored during the subsequent recovery.Prerequisites
Procedure
SAPDBA displays the following information:
You have to use this procedure when the recovery requires offline redo log files that are no longer in the archiving directory. You cannot start the recovery until the necessary archived redo logs are restored, either now or continuously during the recovery.
BRRESTORE restores the required files.
If the redo logs are still available on disk, they do not have to be restored. SAPDBA flags such files with the comment (
Result
When the offline redo log files have been successfully restored, SAPDBA sets the Status of Restore offline redo logs to finished.
