Use

You can use SAPDBA for Oracle to display the status of your database system when you do any of the following:

These methods are described in more detail below.

Prerequisites

You have configured and started SAPDBA. Refer to Getting Started with SAPDBA.

Procedure

  1. Go to the SAPDBA main menu.

SAPDBA displays the status of your database system:

  1. Choose Instance information.

SAPDBA displays the following status information:

Status information

Meaning

SELECTED INSTANCE

Name of the instance (for example, C11)

INSTANCE STATUS

Status of the instance (for example, shutdown, mounted, opened)

INSTANCE HOME

Local home directory (for example, /oracle/C11)

CONNECTED PROGRAMS

Number of processes connected with the database (for example, 1)

SAPR3

Logon status of user sapr3 ( connected, not connected)

  1. Choose Startup/Shutdown instance to start or stop the database instances.

With this option, SAPDBA displays status information for the local instance, the parallel instances, the number of processes logged, and user sapr3 .
