You can use plan versions to compare planning data, actual data and complete planning processes to give an overview of planning for current business or season.

In active plan versions, you cannot generate your own planning data using manual planning, automatic planning (except for the automatic planning activity "Release data for active plan versions", see below) or planning step links.

You can only define one active plan version for each planning step. You do not, however, have to define an active plan version. The active plan version must already have been defined as a plan version in the previous planning step.

You can only generate planning data by releasing the planning data for the plan version to the active plan version (in automatic planning, use the planning activity 'Release data to the active plan version').
