Copying Report Writer Objects from Other Clients 

Prerequisites

You can only use this function if you are copying Report Writer objects from/to clients that exist in the same system. If the Report Writer objects you want to copy are stored in a different system than the one to which you want to copy, you must use the Utilities ® Transport ® Import and Export functions.

When you copy Report Writer objects to the client in which you are working, the system overwrites existing objects without warning.

1. On any Report Writer reporting: Initial Screen, choose Utilities ® Transport ® Copy from client.

The Report Writer: Copy <Object> from Source Client screen appears.

2. Enter the source client and the selection criteria as required.

The data you enter determines the data that is copied from the source client to the client in which you are working.

3. Set the indicators in the Further details group box, as required:

– If you select Copy without selection list, the objects are copied directly to the client in which you are working.

In this case, you do not select the objects to be copied from an object list.

– If you select Copy with dependent objects, the Report Writer objects are copied with all their dependent objects.

For example, if you are exporting reports and select Copy with dependent objects, the system exports all reports and the objects defined for the reports (sets, variables, formulas, libraries, and standard layouts).

This field does not appear if you are copying standard layouts to another client.

Beginning with Release 3.1G, CO groups (such as cost center groups, cost element groups, profit center groups, and so on) are no longer transported as dependent objects. This prevents CO groups being overwritten unintentionally in the target client. If you want to copy CO groups to another client, you do so in a separate step using the set or hierarchy maintenance functions.

4. Choose Program ® Execute.

1. Select each object that you want to copy.
2. Choose <Object> ® Copy.
